Élodie Dérond (b. 1998, Martinique) and Tania Doumbe Fines (b. 1994, Cameroon), together form Ibiyanε, a duo of multi-disciplinary artists based in Martinique. They design and handcraft – under the mentorship of Martinican carpenter Jules Pognon – forms sourced at the crossroads of their humanities.
Each of their sculptural pieces stands in equilibrium between pure art and functionality. Infused in memory, the duo’s interpretation of intimacy and beauty aims to document core feelings as to expend our perceptions of the other.
